making a beautiful bulletin board from the kids’ crafts! The kids loved all the

Here’s what we’re learning this week!
Science: Which is better, organic or conventionally grown foods and why? The kids will research the benefits of both conventional and organically raised foods and then report their findings through a poster or brochure to their Kinderpup buddies on Friday.
Social Studies: What are the powers of the 3 branches of government? We will continue to learn about the 3 branches of government this week and explore how the branches check and balance each other. There are 2 great ways you can support your child’s understanding of this at home. 1) Talk with him/her about what’s happening in our government today. 2) Encourage him/her to go to iCivics.org and play several of the simulation games.
Math: How do we multiply fractions and mixed numbers? This week we will begin learning about multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers.
Reading: What are some important U.S. symbols? We will continue to read and gather information on important U.S. symbols and how those symbols provide strength to Americans in times of conflict. This is a part of ELA unit, Conflict in America.
Writing: How do I set a personal writing goal and work towards this goal? This week as the kids finish their historical narratives, we will move into a more differentiated approach to writing in which kids will have the opportunity to set and work toward their own writing goals through various writing invitations during class.
